CAMBRIDGE

By Aida, Kimberly and Mar

Yesterday we went to Cambridge. At nine o’clock we got the bus and went to Cambridge. In the bus we listened to music, we sang, we slept and we played the Nintendo...
We went with Miss Aly, Miss Barbra and with our Spanish teachers. We went to Cambridge because it is very important and it is very good to study.

There are many universities and museums. We arrived at 10.45 and we went with a guide to visit the King’s College and a lovely chapel.
After that we had time to go shopping. In Cambridge there was a market and many beautiful shops. We bought very nice Cambridge University jumpers, postcards and some other little things.

After shopping, we visited the Fritzwilliam Museum and we did some homework about it.
Then we returned to the bus and we came back to school at half past nine. Some anecdotes on the trip: Aida felt sick on the way to Cambridge and suddenly she threw up!!! It was very funny because there were no plastic bags on the bus and... We had to stop to clean the mess... but when we did it everything was OK!!!

2nd Day at Alexaders School

Hello everyone!!!

Second night in the rooms was fine, we all sleep tight as we were veeeery tired!
Yesterday we had spaguetti and pizza for supper, as well as boiled vegetables! It was yummy!!! Then as dessert we had a nice chocolate muffin, hopefully we will have some more...

After dinner we had our social activities. There were different activities planned: we played some chocolate games and also some games with flour and water, it was loads of fun!
There were also some students who challenged one of the counselors to play chess, and they even won!!! So well done for them, congratulations!
Apart from that, we had a small welcome party, with a disco, and some of the girls showed us their best moves at the dancing floor, it was very cool!

Then we had registration at Heron House and we took some milk with cereals, and we even had a unexpected visit: the boys were coming!!! When they left at 22h we started going to bed, although it always takes longer...

Today students have started with their normal lessons, from 9.00 till 12.30. They practise all skills: grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking, etc. This afternoon we have more lessons and after that a bit of sport. Yesterday we played football, tennis and even some students went running with Nuria!!!!

Tomorrow we are going to Cambridge, so hopefully we will have nice weather (today it is beautifully sunny) and we will have a very nice day.

So, this is all for now, folks, take care and we will keep you posted!!!!

FIRST DAY IN ALEXANDERS SCHOOL!

HELLO EVERYONE!
This is our first day in Alexanders school and we are all happy and well.
Yesterday, when we arrived at the airport, a bus was waiting for us and during the hour and a half trip to the school, one of the members of the staff gave us some useful information about the school, the activities and the social program.
As soon as we arrived at the school, we had what they called a “light meal”, which included pasta, baked potatoes, pizza, chips, brown bread, cheese, fruit and yoghourt. Then, we were taken to our rooms. The boys are in Fulmar house, and the girls in Heron house. Most rooms are two-bed dorms with a shared bathroom. Don’t worry mums, everything is clean and the food is good!
At 17’30 we had supper, which consisted of meat (beef or chicken), peas and carrots, gravy, rice, fruit and yoghourt. Children said they were not hungry, but they ate everything!!!
In the evening we had social activities. We learnt how to make jewellery, we played games with the pastoral staff and we enjoyed playing table tennis and snooker.
When we went back to the houses for register, we could drink a glass of milk and eat some biscuits. As you can see, we are not starving here!
As for insects, the only incidents we’ve had so far have been the sighting of a couple of spiders in the shower and the invasion of a mosquito the size of Manhattan in the girls’ house. Nothing to worry about.
Today, we got up early and we had a nice breakfast and now the students are taking their placement test (speaking, vocabulary, grammar, writing) and afterwards we have a half-an-hour break and more classes.
Everyone is really nice here, and our new English friends keep telling us that we brought good weather from Spain, because it has been raining for six straight weeks here!
See you soon. More news tomorrow!
